Falling for fall.

I saw a sign on pinterest, or maybe it was an e-card... either way it was adorable and so fitting for what I'm feeling right now. It said something along the lines of, "What's the first day of fall?" ..."Sweetie, everyone knows it's when Starbucks starts selling pumpkin spice latte's".  I wish I would of re-pinned it... any-who.

I noticed today, as I sipped on my pumpkin spice latte, that fall is rapidly approaching. With fall comes adorable warm and cozy outfits.  Now don't get me wrong, I'm a summer weather girl.  I love shorts, tanks, dresses, flip-flops, bathing suits... you name it.  But there is a certain comfort that I can find in an oversized sweater, scarf, and boots.  Although I'm functioning on a budge, a limited one at that, a girl can dream-- right? Well here are a few additions I'd officially like to make to my dream closet.

Statement necklaces

Statement Necklaces, it goes without saying that this is a bold fashion trend, and it's one I've been trying to pull off lately.  It's so nice as a pop of color to a simple ensemble. My biggest dilemma is figuring out what to pair them with?  After browsing pinterest for a while I found they really can compliment any plain top or dress.

My most recent attempt at rocking a statement necklace was at the Clemson/ Furman game.  I wore a simple white dress with a bright orange necklace to represent my tiger pride. What do you think?

I don't know if you guys have seen the wonderful deals via Facebook lately, but I'm obsessed.  It's probably not a good thing, but... what can ya do. Top five tuesday: What's most worn

To say that I've been MIA for the past few weeks would be an absolute understatement.  Here's the thing, I recently moved into a new house (pictures to be uploaded, soon) and in our new house we didn't have cable or internet installed.  It wasn't too bad not having cable, I no longer spent countless mind-numbing hours watching television.  However, the no internet thing... that was awful. But this past weekend we got hooked up with cable and internet and I'm back in the game! I've missed you guys and I certainly intend to get back into the blogging groove!

Anywho, back to the reason for this post, I'm linking up with Rachel from just peachy on top five tuesday, wardrobe addition.

1. Nike tempo shorts, also known as "norts" a must have for any college girl who doesn't want to dress up every day.  Also, a must have for any runner, they're amazing!

2. Chaco's, great for hiking, walking around campus, lake trips, kayaking, you name it!

3. A Patagonia pull-over, super warm, super comfy, and unfortunately for me is great at attracting dog hair... doesn't stop me though!

4. My Target brand Fake Rogers, get it? ... haha, ok really.  They're amazing and I've literally almost worn them to pieces.

5. White skinny jeans, I really battled with myself on whether to get these or not because they're white, and I don't know about you, but I experience what is called the white curse.  Basically, if it's white, it's covered in something before the day has ended.  But, besides that fact they literally go with everything!

Lovely Lace

As always, I've taken a dive into obsessing over certain fashion trends.  I'm thinking, however, I fell a little late into this one. But hey, better late than never right?

I recently went into Marshalls (bad idea for my wallet, great idea for my appearance) and I found an adorable pair of lace shorts, and an equally adorable grey and orange striped dress with a lace back.  As always I'm jumping on the bandwagon, the lace bandwagon that is, and I'm a big fan.

Tribal

So lately I've been really loving some summer fashion trends, but one has particularly been my favorite. I'm sure you can't tell what it is though. Surprise! I'm obsessed with tribal.

I've been wanting something different for my blog, so that it doesn't blend in with every other one out there. Something different just happened to come to me in a form of a fashion trend that I'm loving lately.

I think my favorite thing about this current trend is the bold and bright color combinations. 

As if I needed more tribal in my life, I also found a tutorial for an iPhone cover via pinterest that I'm absolutely {in love} with.  You've got to go check it out!

What started this obsession? Well it wasn't just the tribal trend hitting pinterest full force. I recently bought some tribal shorts from target, and I love them. They're not only cute and colorful, they're also ridiculously comfy.  I'm attempting to bulk up my closet with tribal prints, what about you?

Do's and Don'ts, Summer wedding wear

If you clicked this post thinking I was going to tell you what to wear to a summer wedding, well.. you're out of luck.  I'm actually needing some help here.  I hadn't put much thought into what to wear this weekend to a wedding I'm attending, and now I'm kinda thinking I should have.

It's not your typical cotton maxi.  The outside is sheer and the underlay is shiny pink.  The dress comes right above the ankle and I think It would be adorable paired with some gold sandals {fake rogers, in my case... thanks Target!} some gold bangles and some simple pearls.

So, what are your thoughts? Is this a wedding wear yes, or no?

Peplum

Thanks to pinterest, I spend hours and hours gawking over clothes I'll probably never buy.  This new trend however is hitting the scene full force.

Finals week is looming in the horizon, which means for me: ultimate procrastination.  This semesters procrastination comes in the form of obsession with clothes and colors.

I saw a girl with mint jeans on today and almost died of jealousy.  Ok, well I guess I didn't have a near death experience, but I really considered ripping them off of her.  I've been a fan of colored jeans for some time now, but mint... they were beautiful.

I'm definitely planning to add a pop of color to my closet this spring and summer, whether it be in the form of bold and bright colors, or unexpected color duo's.

What about this duo-licious color combination?  I'm typically not a huge fan of pink, but this color combination is so unique and bright.  I'm not sure that I could pull of these outfits, but i'm certainly sure i'd try!  With spring in full swing i've been more and more attracted to bold colors.

Running shoes:

I feel like i'm doing this a lot; however being a running newbie i've begun to notice that i'm in desperate need of some advice.  Running shoes:

Any preference? My biggest dilemma i'm having right now is how cute Nikes are.  I've heard that if I want to buy a good pair of running shoes I should go ASICS, but let's be real... there just not as adorable as Nikes. Comfort over beauty? Probably not the best idea in this case.  Anyone have particular luck with an adorable pair of Nikes? Let me know.

As sad as it is I've been wearing down the same running shoes for a while, and it's starting to take a tole on my body.  So I'm having to somewhat trick myself into getting a new pair of shoes.  This sunday... THIS sunday I'll be participating in the Greenville Mud Run (which I mentioned here), so I figure what better way to take those tennis shoes out with a bang while also forcing myself to buy some new shoes.

My next phase of logic is that I would just procrastinate buying new shoes, HA! Tricked myself again, I can't because being the unknowingly genius, genius that I am, I also agreed to do a "Paint run" here in  Clemson to help local high school students in the Tri-County area go to a Young Life camp!  If you live in the Clemson/Anderson area, or anywhere neighboring and want a fun 5k to run, sign up!

On the topic of runs/ athleticism I should also recommend Body Pump.  Body Pump is class I take at fike that starts at 6 in the morning.  Ok, I realize 6 sounds early... and, well it is early. But it's a wonderful start to the day, and they pretty much whip your butt into shape!  Fike is not the only place that offers Body Pump, actually if you look at your local gym/ fitness center, I bet it's offered! Take it!

P.s. Off the topic of working out, and onto books.  Finished 19 minutes, it was awesome! So unexpected... and officially started the second book in The Hunger Games trilogy. Madness, absolute madness! And yet, I can't rip my eyes away from it for longer than an hour at a time.

Spring fever!

Is it sad that it's only February and I've already got spring fever?!  With Clemson's bi-polar weather we've been experiencing i'm not sure if i'm going to step out into the freezing cold with a winter coat, scarf, and boots, or if i'm going to attend class in a t-shirt and norts (nike shorts).  

Lately I've been really contemplating a new wardrobe for student teaching (even though that's like a year away...) and so I'm attempting to stray away from my comfort zone with bluejeans.  I have a pair of above the ankle dark denim skinnies that I am absolutely obsessed with because they are so comfortable/ still classy and chic.  It's because of this, and my spring fever, that I'm really having a tough time not blowing my budget on these brightly colored skinnies that I could totally wear in the classroom! The grammys: best, and worst.

I'm not sure if I was the only one so wrapped up in Valentines day specials on Sunday evening that I didn't even think to flip to the Grammys... "The Proposal" was on, so you'll have to excuse me because I'm a sucker for romantic comedies.  So in the midst of all of the best dressed, and worst dressed debates I decided I would take a look for myself.  In most cases I would have to say that I agreed with the NY Daily News, but in some cases I did not.  Here's a little bit about what I think about the celeb's and their Grammy attire (... but then again, what do I know, I'm just a southern girl with a simple style).

Today's Outfit?  

In spirit of the current monsoon hitting Clemson, South Carolina, I thought it would only be appropriate to post a "how to" survive rainy days in college.  You would think that a rainy day would equal sweats and sweatshirts, hair all bundled up and curly.  But no no no, in college girls find ways to look absolutely adorable even in the worst of weather. Brrr, It's cold outside.

                                BRRR. Can someone tell me when winter hit with full force? It got cold fast! Last week it was thanksgiving and I was wearing t-shirt and jeans... without a jacket. This morning, i'm starting my car 15 minutes before I leave for class so it isn't completely frozen solid. Just so we're clear, i'm a cold wimp.  If it is below 50 degrees i'm shivering.  So, in the spirit of this frosty season, this fashion forward post is all about those cozy sweaters we're all 

 dying to have!

in order to stay warm during this harsh winter (haha, can you tell i'm from south carolina?) keep Starbucks in mind... not the iced coffee though. also, remember layers, boots, fuzzy socks, long sleeves and sweaters! 

VS Fashion Show

So tonight (with margaritas at our aid), we made it through the Victoria secret fashion show! This has got to be one of my favorite fashion shows to watch on TV.  The girls are beautiful, enchanting, and silly.  It is so nice to see that even angels can act down to earth, no pun intended.  This year was certainly my favorite year, the girls were so cute! Needless to say it was a wonderful way to kick off my new diet.  It's not that the girls make me feel inferior or ridiculously jealous (they do.. but that's not the point).  It's also that they work HARD to look the way they do. They literally work their butt's off!  Miranda Kerr ring a bell? Gave birth to a beautiful baby boy in January and is rocking it in this fashion show! It is certainly nice to see that hard work can pay off.

 I think my biggest problem will be sweets... thanks Natalie for the bag full of cookies! Won-der-ful way to start my diet! At least now I can put off dieting until the bag is gone. :)  Welp, here's to workin' on my fitness!

Tuesday Shoesday

My most recent shoe purchase... over the knee boots! For those of you who don't handle cold weather well,  I certainly recommend these boots. They're versatile, you can wear them with: leggings, jeggings, skinny jeans, dresses, in cool fall weather, cold winter weather, rain, or snow! The pair I bought were from entourage, they're precious and they didn't break my bank.
